Getting started near you

What do you need to start?
Are you an inspired citizen, local government official or corporate social responsibility person wanting to be part of starting your own corridor? Well then the first thing to do is to see who you can find who might work with you and what info you can already find.

Here is a good list of people to reach out to see who will help you. Try asking. You will be surprised how many people are excited to join a good cause if it is close to their heart:

  • ✓ Professionals such as ecologists, botanists, landscape designers
  • ✓ Gardeners and garden groups
  • ✓ Citizen scientists
  • ✓ Environmental groups such as birders, insect groups, scouts,
  • ✓ Indigenous nurseries, or people growing plants at home
  • ✓ City officials related to, or passionate about public space, biodiversity and the environment

We suggest you start by trying to gather some basic information as a test to see if key information is readily available. We can always assist, but it is a good exercise to see what can be easily obtained, and it will help get our discussion going.

Key information includes:

  • ✓ lists of local plants and animals, ideally from pre-settlement intensity or from just outside the intense urban development
  • ✓ local nature reserve, botanical garden or wildflower and wild animal fieldguides
  • ✓ GIS maps of you local vegetation types and any and all urban form layers (roads, housing / development, rivers, wetlands, public open space etc.)

If you have the money but not the time, we can step in to gather data and suggest a network of partners for the corridor building project. If nothing else, what is essential is to have a host organisation and a person who is in charge of coordinating the implementation of the project.

Partner with us

If you have most of the items listed above and want to take the next steps with us, please contact us. We can work together in the following ways:

Use our library and tools

Our main mission is to build an ecological corridor in your city, and by using our library of info and tools, you get access to well organised information that helps you green in a way that is great for our birds and bees and other wonderful creatures, and builds up the ecosystem in the long term. Doing this with your neighbours and local park group is even better because we want many people helping us build up the urban ecosystem with our local plants. Each of you is a small but important part of a healthy city of the future. This info and tools are free for members of the public to use for their private projects. If you want to use our tools for your landscaping or environmental business, or for a funded project, please use the subscribe option to get unlimited access. Your subscription helps with the library upkeep and upgrade and keeps this very important information easily accessible to members of the public.

Join our talks and training

When capacity and resources allow, we host talks and training that give you the additional knowledge and skills you need to take your greening to the next level. We combine principles of ecological restoration with approaches to landscape design and carbon sequestration. All of these have skills and approaches that will help you on your journey. Best of all, you will meet other people doing what you are doing and find people on the same journey. Reach out and build relationships with these people. We go far when we go together.

Become a non-profit partner

If you are in the environmental space and work in a related field, we would love to partner up and share knowledge or work together on. Our library of knowledge and tools are open source and will always be available to the public. Professionals who profit off using the info and tool pay for a subscription, which funds the hosting and upkeep of the library and tools.

Partner with us for your ESG programme

We love to partner with those who have the money but not the time to contribute to climate and biodiversity work. We benefit local communities and are able to provide regular reports with scientific rigor and verifiable results. We are in it for the long-term so partner with us and we can make a meaningful change together.

Hire us a consultants

Each of us work independently and come together as a group for projects when it makes sense. You may hire us individually or as a group for your project.

Co-funding together

If you are unfunded so far and do not have immediate means to raise funds for our work, be in contact anyway. Keep a look out online for funding opportunities and we might agree to support your application, giving it extra strength and scientific backing.
